AHA Courses Offered
Heartsaver First Aid – Heartsaver First Aid offers the student the opportunity to obtain basic first aid training and certification. Classes can be scheduled for 2 or more students and usually lasts about 4 hours. Certification is for 2 years.
Heartsaver CPR/AED – Heartsaver CPR/AED can be divided up into one of two courses if desired – ADULT or INFANT. The course is typically taught as one with completion resulting in certification in Adult/Child/Infant CPR/AED. The full course lasts about 6 hours depending on the number of students, and any additional practice needed by the students. Certification is for 2 years.
Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens – Bloodborne pathogens is required by OSHA yearly for any employee that may come into contact with bodily fluids as a part of their job. BBP is approximately 2 hours in length, and results in a 1 year certification.
Basic Life Support – BLS is a required CPR course for any person involved in healthcare. Heartsaver CPR/AED does not cover the required content to meet the requirements of healthcare providers. People this course is meant for include: nursing assistants, CNAs, OT/PT and their assistants, LPNs, RNs, EMTs, Firefighters, Paramedics, PAs, and Physicians. Certification is for 2 years.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support – ACLS should be obtained by RNs, EMT-Intermediates, Paramedics, PAs, and Physicians to name a few. ACLS is team oriented care for cardiac patients. EMTs are permitted to take ACLS, but will be required to meet the same knowledge/testing standards for the pretest and at completion of the course. Certification is for 2 years.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support – PALS is for healthcare providers that are responsible for providing medical care for pediatric patients ranging from newborn to adolescent. PALS is oriented to team based care. EMTs are permitted to take PALS, but will be required to meet the same knowledge/testing standards for the pretest and at the completion of the course. Certification is for 2 years
Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization – PEARS is designed for care providers who do not routinely care for pediatric patients, such as EMTs, convalescent nurses, or Emergency Medical Responders. Certification is for 2 years.
Airway Management – “Airway Management is a unique program designed to give students the chance to learn, practice and demonstrate their ability in applying many airway skills used in resuscitation. Students increase their awareness of various airway products and skills required.”
ECG and Pharmacology – “This classroom-based, facilitator-led course is designed to improve electrocardiogram (ECG) recognition skills and pharmacology knowledge for treating cardiovascular emergencies.”
